Meet Holger Schäfer

Holger began his journey with Satisloh 45 years ago as an apprentice machinist. After completing further training, he transitioned into R&D, where he has been contributing his expertise and experience ever since — a career path that reflects his deep commitment to innovation and the company.

A Long Journey With Satisloh

Holger’s connection with Satisloh spans an impressive 45 years — a journey that almost took a different turn. After completing his apprenticeship, he had not planned to stay with the company. However, a personal offer from the managing director Mr. Loh to pursue further training and continue his career at Satisloh changed his mind.

Following this opportunity, Holger moved into the development department, where he went on to take responsibility for the entire mechanical development for many years. His career reflects not only loyalty, but also the trust placed in his expertise and his lasting impact on innovation within the company. These days he settled down and focuses on innovation.

Whenever I walk through our production and I see all the new machines, it fills me with pride at having played a part in their development and creation.

The Idea of the Orbit

The idea for the first Orbit was born during a company celebration — back in the days when smoking in the cafeteria was still allowed. In a lively conversation, the concept of the rotating B-axis was improvised and visualized using a sausage placed in an ashtray. Holger was part of that memorable moment of creativity.

What started as a spontaneous sketch of an idea has since evolved into one of Satisloh’s bestselling machines — a testament to how innovation sometimes begins in the most unexpected ways.
